We've just returned from our second trek through wild and exotic NEPAL to the foot of Mt. Everest! We all agreed that it is impossible to show the scale of the mountains and scenery with mere photographs. We dealt with altitude, traffic (cows roaming free in busy city streets), cold, coughs, and communists. It was truly and amazing trip! The political climate was in a weird state as the Maoists had just won a majority of seats in the general election and over 200 years of Monarchy was ending and a "new" era, good or bad, was about to begin. Add to this the chinese demanding, and getting, Nepal to strictly limit traffic and information in the mountain region and confusion about the future of the Everest climbing season and you have NEPAL 2008. |
